A full day’s tuition for a beginner would involve covering the basics of a Woodturning Lathe and the various aspects of safety that a turner would need to know.  By the end of the day I would aim for the student to have tried both basic Spindle Turning and basic Bowl Turning, although the student may wish to alter this to fit in with his/her personal requirements.  The students would be able to take home any items that they had made. Tea & coffee would be available and a light lunch would be provided.

I have three Woodturning lathes, a Jet 1642 with variable speed, a Record CL3 with 5 speed belt change and a small Fox Midi with 6 speed belt change. These are situated in a fairly large workshop in a converted barn, which is attached to the house. The workshop is equipped with various woodworking machines & tools of different types.

If you already have any woodturning tools it would be advisable to bring them along, with a view to looking at sharpening.  I do, however, have enough for your use.

 

 

My fees are:  £160  per day (approx 5 – 6hours)                                          

                      £90 per half day (approx 3 hours)
